What we did today: Today we went over the geography test and the African map assignment.

Today we finished adding mixed numbers with different denominators.
 
Homework-Worksheet 5.2, #6 - 10.  Students had 20 minutes to work on the 5 problems in class:)  I believe everyone finished.

For the quiz tomorrow we should know the composition of earths troposphere (list specific gasses and their percentages) , the layers of the atmosphere and how temp and pressure change in each, how the sun creates global and local winds, how differences in air pressure occur in our atmosphere, know what a primary and secondary air pollutant is, know how ozone/smog and acid rain are created, understand the three types of energy transfer(conduction convection and radiation) and know how to represent/illustrate a convection current.

Worked in class on Homework 3.4 and 6.3. If not finished in class, they need to finish it for homework. We are working on equation and inequality solving. There can be a solution ( like x=4) or no solution or all real numbers as a solution. This is causing a little bit of stress. Ask your son or daughter to solve: 3x - 4 = 2x + 8 - 5x and explain the answer.

Homework: All students have a worksheet and current event article and summary due this Thursday.  Study for the geography test on Wednesday October 26th.
 
Today all students have received a letter showing their progress in humanities class so far.  They require a signature from a parent/guardian and should be returned to Mr. Mercer Wednesday or Thursday.

Homework: Students need to write one example for each theme of geography on the guided outline.  Students need to complete the worksheet covering pages 213-216 and 291-294.
Both need to be completed for Monday.
 
Important dates:
Thursday October 20th is when the next current event is due.  The topic should be about Asia or Africa.
Wednesday October 26th is the date for the geography test.  Study guides will be given out on Monday October 17th.

What we did today: Today we continued to work in the atlases.  Students received their social studies/humanities textbooks and began to work on the homework.
 
Homework: I am aware that due to the holiday many students have family obligations.  I provided time in class to begin the homework.  Those students who cannot finish the homework this weekend because of family obligations will not lose credit and will be allowed to finish it in class on Monday.
Students are supposed to read pages 17-21 in their textbook.  On page 21, students should complete parts 2, 3, and 4 of the section assessment.
