Mercer-Humanities

What we did today: Today I took more questions about the upcoming project due on Friday June 8th.  We then watched some video clips about Ancient Greece and had follow-up questions and discussions.
 
Homework: There is no homework due tomorrow, but I encourage working on the project that is due Friday June 8th.
The next check in date is Monday June 4th.  Students should have a rough draft of the written portion of their project.

What we did today: Today students turned in their 5 themes chart.  I read them all, wrote some notes on them, and gave them back.  Please look over them with your son or daughter along with the directions to the project.  Some students did not follow the directions. 
Students spent the rest of the hour reading about the major achievements during their civilization and shared what they found with others who had the same civilization.
 
Homework: Nothing is due tomorrow, however working on the project is encouraged.  The next check in date is Monday June 4th.  They need to have a rough draft of their written part.

Students took their inequality test today.  No homework.

Mercer-Humanities

What we did today: Students read additional information on their ancient leader.  They identified their leader's role, achievements, and mistake.  Students we placed in small groups and they exchanged the information about their leaders to each other.  They then compared their leader with one of the other leaders they read about.
 
Homework: The first check in for the project is Tuesday.  All students must have the 5 themes of geography chart filled out.
 
The next check in is Monday June 4th.  This is a rough draft of the written part of the project.
The final project is due Friday June 8th.

What we did today: Today we answered some questions about the civilizations the students read about.  We then shared our answers in small groups and then with the class.
 
Homework: Students need to read about a particular individual or individuals in their ancient civilization.  They need to write down what makes the individual(s) important to the development of the civilization.

What we did today: Today students were given a blank map of Asia to prepare for the Asia map test, the date is yet to be determined.  Students also took a mini quiz on Japan and read about Korea in the classroom set of textbooks.  Students then answered comprehension and critical thinking questions about what they had read. 
 
Homework: Students need to bring a news article about an East Asian country to class tomorrow.  Students should not write a summary or complete the current event form.  We will be using the articles for a classroom group assignment.  Students who do not have an article tomorrow will be given a longer alternative assignment.
